light_and_magic__water_by_xanthicThe power of the universe is the power of Light. Photons, particulate waves of matter and energy, an incantation and a breath. This is how it all began, the beginning of everything that is us. And the power is all around us. It enraptures us. It beckons us onward in endless pursuit.

In cosmic streams we encircle all that is. We intertwine and interchange. We are all in all and all at once. We move as one and then dissolve. We are the stuff of souls. We are the inspiration and the thoughts of dreams. We are the words of poets and the Divine.

We are light.

  1. I like, but of course “light” only first appeared 400,000 years after the bang (or the bounce, depending on your flavour).

    • That’s not what the Vedas tell me. Cosmic light superceded the stars. Our very thoughts project particles of light we cannot see, and yet it is there. “Dark light.” 🙂 I take your meaning, though. And yes, I agree. Thank you.

      • Ah, the Vedas. Some of the greatest storytelling right there. As far as creation yarns go they’re the best. I particularly like this one, it makes logical sense:

In the beginning there was a swirling dark chaos. Enveloping this thing that was neither non-existence nor existence there was a cosmic man, a giant named Purusha who had a thousand heads, a thousand eyes, and a thousand feet. Although there was nothing he pervaded everything and even stretched ten fingers’ breadth beyond. Purusha was all that was and all that would be, which presented certain, unavoidable problems. Before doing something, anything, Purusha realised that he would have already done it. The future was the present and the present was the past. Doing everything but nothing at the same time left Purusha just one option for his first (and last) ever action: he sacrificed himself, and from his body parts came all that is.

        • Isn’t that beautiful, though?! I love it! That’s the answer I give on the street, if anyone ever asks my thoughts on such things… I enjoy the WTF looks I get. I don’t really take this stuff too seriously. It just seems like more fun than being in one camp or the other. I’ll just take a little bit of everything and have a nice metaphysical mashup, throw a little quantum physics and evolutionary science in for good measure, and go with it. Why not? Gives me common reference points with just about everyone.

  2. Reblogged this on paarsurrey and commented:
    Paarsurrey says:

Qur’an mentions that the One-True-God Allah Yahweh is the light of the Universe:

[24:36] Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His light is as a lustrous niche, wherein is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass is as it were a glittering star. It is lit from a blessed tree — an olive — neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would well-nigh glow forth even though fire touched it not. Light upon light! Allah guides to His light whomsoever He will. And Allah sets forth parables to men, and Allah knows all things full well.
